Off to the Course

Now that the Masters is finished, I guess it's the unofficial start of the golf season for us up north. The courses no longer have frost on them and are all starting up. I supposed I could still go on a golf vacation or golf trip, but with the local courses all offering Spring Specials, now it the perfect time to head out to the links and try out those new golf clubs you may have gotten and not been able to use. I've been to the driving range a couple of times, but as with most of us, the swing is still a bit rusty.

Some of the best deals are during the weekdays. That's one of the benefits of having my own business - I can work when I want to and golf when I want to. In fact, I like to mix both and end up doing some work while I'm on the course. That's the fun of being in the golf and travel business. Anyway, I'm off to the driving range again.

Welcome to my first post

Let's get to the point - golfing is a big part of my life. I've been a golfer for over 30 years and after 3 kids, 2 houses and countless jobs, I decided that I want to play it more again. Sure, I've played the odd game now and then, but not enough in my opinion. Take my word for it, once you are hooked and start playing, it's tough not to play. I decided to use this blog as a sort of chronical of my thoughts as well as my golfing adventures. I'm not sure if anyone is that interested in what's in my head or what's happening with me, but it's out here for those that want to read it.

Anyway, onwards we go. Recently, I discovered the best possible scenario for me - running my own business in the golf (and travel) industry. Not only to I get to be around golf more, but I get to talk to other people about it all the time. Although I live in an area where I can almost play golf year round (although, I do need an umbrella and rain suit from time to time), I do like to go on the occassional golf trip to warmer climates, so being in the golf business gives me the option to do that - and write it off!

But the reality is that for most of us, we can't, but the weather is starting to get better, which means the golf season is ramping up. I guess that means it's time to start thinking about golf more seriously. You know, should I get new golf clubs? Should I take refresher lessons? Should I take another golf trip to warmer climates to warm up? Anyway, lots to think about.

That's it for my first posting, but I'm sure there will be much more to write about in the next little while.
